Yup, they are ok, and do the job for sure. Very rare these day's though, you have been lucky to find them Ian.Last edited by Duffbeer; 24-12-2009, 10:50 PM.Discount Home Brew Supplies

A fine wine is a fine wine, 1st time may be by accident, 2nd time is by design - that's why you keep notes.

i though these condeser tops have valves in them , the ones in the photo looks as if they dont,
the ones that i have brought are just normal wine bottle stoppers that are a bit stronger and have the top that has marks in it for the wire cagesWine from grapes is alright, but nothing beats the proper stuff to make wine with.

This is the top with the valve plunger pulled up in the open postion:
And this is the tiny outlet on the underside of the sparkletop:
They come 6 to a box.
I also got sets of of the spare cages to go with them when I bought mine, but 'standard' wire cages can be twisted to fit.
I hope this helps some one identify them lying in the bottom of a box of odds & ends at a car boot sale!Last edited by David; 27-12-2009, 06:13 PM.

Hello Brenda and welcome to the forum
That is very interesting and a very kind offer.....not a good idea to post your email addy on a forum though, it can be done through the PM system.Alcohol causes you to forget things, and some other stuff I don't remember!

Spot on advice there Wurzel. Plus someone'd have to "co-ordinate" the kind offer from Brenda, as I suspect that there's a number of us who'd like to get our greezy little hands on them.......
And of course, Welcome Brenda to the forums......Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

Sparklers
They are good. You can use them as a direct ferment in bottle, or do it the Champagne way. Ferment to a finish, blend/adjust your wine and restart. Restarting is best, not so much gunge in the bottle.
Thanks for reminding me. Here is my last bottle of Gooseberry/apple, almost ten years old. The thread has pulled through the valve stem and I never got round to working a way round it. The stopper is still straining the wire cage, which is good for a plastic stopper. here's a picture of the lost/found bottle.
