  • Wine No. 1 variants - What OG should I start with?

I've got my first wine No. 1 bubbling away nicely when it's finished I intended to try a little tweak perhaps using pomegranate & blueberry juice.
My question is what starting OG should I sugar this must to - I don't want rocket fuel just a pleasant, well balance wine, probably aiming for 12.5% (reasonable?) ABV in the finished product.

Also, I was thinking of 1L red grape, 1L apple and 1L pomegranate & blueberry juice and adjust the water added accordingly or would I be better to reduce/omit the red grape and/or apple juice?

Starting gravity should be about 1.080 for a well balanced wine number one.

For your alternative recipe, I'd use the grape, apple and the third litre all together but omit the teaspoon of acid called for by the recipe...

Make sure it isn't the light/ sugar version of the juice. And it might need a bit more ageing than a wn1.

    Hope that helps.

OK thanks Delmonteman - Yes that is very useful. I have my fingers crossed for my batch number two (and indeed my batch number one still!)
