A cracking day for Pontefract Wine Circle in our only "home game" of the season.

I judged Class 16 - Liqueur which contained 22 bottles of weird and wonderful creations.

As for my entries, 11 out of the 16 bottles I entered were placed.

1st Class 8 - Rose Medium Sweet
1st Class 18 - Bitter
2nd Class 1 - Red Dry Table <<<<< Merlot from Grapefest 09
2nd Class 14 - White kit
3rd Class 17 - Lager
4th Class 1 - Red Dry Table
4th Class 11 - Dessert White
VHC Class 13 - Red Kit
VHC Class 14 - Sparking White or Rose Dry
HC Class 5 - White Medium
HC Class 2 - Red Medium

The bitter also won best beer in show!!

A few other forum members also have success stories to tell.

I only had two entries (not much room in suitcase) but they did pretty well. I took 1st in the dry red class and 1st in the medium white class.

The white wine also won Best Wine in Show.

In the VWC I had three entries, which won two golds and a silver.

All in all, a good day.

I'll post some photos when I have time.

I entered both competions with the following results,
1st. Rose dry
2nd. Liqueur
3rd. Red medium
4th. Bitter
Jean entered the Bakery class and came 2nd and got V H C for her Jam
VWC results
3 Gold
1 Silver
3 Bronze
3 H M

This was only our 2nd show, Doncaster in April was our first, we are dead chuffed.
We both stewarded for the first time. Realy enjoyed it and learned a lot. I would recomend it to anyone wanting to learn more about wine.
All in all a great day, thanks to all the organisers who put in lots of hard work but it paid off.

I wondered how Karl managed to dance like that, it's his "Leg Ends" then according to Bob's post.

Jan nearly has the hang of it
Default Thank you

Thanks to everybody for your hard work in putting on the show. We both enjoyed it and I know Eileen and Frank did too. Much as it pains me to pay him a compliment, Richard's quiz was very good.

Look forward to next year's show. Jan x
