  • Muntons Stark Naked full juice kits

These seem to be new to the market. Has anyone tried them? At 50GBP for 15 bottles, they are similar priced to Kenridge and Winexpert's high end kits.

Not yet, but I am toying with the idea. I have no room though, and with GF approaching rapidly and 4 kits still in the cupboard, I can't justify it at the mo.

Looks cool but for that much, I would think Muntons should have a pdf or some more information about it.

Is there a website or link that you could post as even I'd like to have a look at their offerings......

Couldn't find them on the Muntons site. Google found a couple of retailers yesterday though.

If anybody gets their hands on a box please read the ingredients closely. I'm sorry Muntons but I never believe the 'all juice' comment about kits until I've seen the box. [People have said 'all juice' for kits that were likely 'all concentrate'.]

Well I was going to forego the temptation of another kit in the cupboard, but after a taster, I could not resist. It was very appealing; It was the last Barberra at the local homebrew shop open day.

If it turns out anything like the taster, I will be well pleased. I had better not say about the cost, but it was a lot cheaper than fifty quid (and I got a t-shirt thrown in as well). The one down-side is the need for a 'medium sized' fermenter. I resisted buying a Muntons' offering at the same time.

I have made the Pinot Grigio which is currently ageing. The ingredients list on the box claims juice not concentrate and you don't add water to it.

The starting numbers for it were SG1.087, PH 3.02, TA 7.2g/l.

A little taste at the 5 month mark shows it being ok, lacking a little body and bouquet with hints of citrus fruit and melon. I haven't bottled this yet but at this stage in its life I would say it is better than the Beaverdale kit I made but not quite as good as a commercial bottle yet........

Noooo, don't do it, I have had samples of these and shared them with the 5 towns gang, we were'nt impressed, they lacked body & flavour, for the price you would be far better off with a good WE or Kenridge kit.

If I'm honest Muntons should stick to beer kits, I haven't found a wine kit from them that I could claim as good or value for money.

I spoke to Karl at Grapefest and he told me then that these were not that good but I felt I had to try for myself before deciding.

A certain homebrew shop in Barnstaple has the full range heavily discounted so maybe they have not been well received.
