  • Beetroot wine

1st boiling of the beet is in the darker looking DJ, 2nd boiling of the beet is in the lighter looking DJ. little bit left over for topping up, really must find a smaller container for it.

Recipe was same as in C.J.Berrys recipe book, but with 2 cinnamon sticks in. I'll post the recipe when I get the book back. I've lent it to a friend along with 2 demijohns..

It spent about 4 days in the primary and really did foam up well, using a Burgandy yeast, thing it was a Youngs one.

Fantastic colour Rich, thats the beauty of beetroot allthough Iv'e never made any myself but recently contemplating doing so, due to a decent crop in the garden. whilst reading up on many recipes many suggest keeping it in the dark or wrapped in brown paper, apparently the light will turn it a murky brown colour in rather a short time.
    Look forward to the recipe.

            Very nice!
Keeping a good level of K-Meta in the wine during the entire process should go far in helping preserve the color as well as keeping it in the dark.

I love pickled beets! (my confession for the day)

I like pickled beets also. Except for the next morning when you think there is a case of internal bleeding? Cheers enjoy the beetroot wine. DAW
