  • Elderberry Home Brew Centre - whitley bay

    Hi,

Just thought I'd recommend Elderberry Home Brew Centre in whitley bay.

I live about 10 miles from hop and grape but prefer to travel around 30 miles to elderberry as the chap who runs it is always very helpful.

      kerosine....

Do they sell 1 gallon glass DJ?

I can't find a website, and the email address on that page isn't working.

Do you ever drive south to near York for anything? I have several glass demijons that you can have. Clear and brown glass, will be sorting them out this weekend to freecycle I think.

            They do sell Demi Johns

but might be cheaper buying 5 litre water from supermarket and converting

Easier/lighter and saves the metro journey

or you could try ordering from H&G they deliver http://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/catalog...tid=FER2155433

but then it may be better to go for 5 Gallon Carbouys

that shop was one of my haunts many years ago. Is Alan the Aussie guy? I enjoyed shopping there and gave the shop a plug on the last forum that i was active on.

Tuco, the 5 litre water bottles from the supermarket are exactly the same as the ones you would buy from a home brew shop. A gallon of water from the supermarket will cost around 70p (with a free demi) and the ones from the HBS will cost between £2.50 and £3.50 each. I use the ones from the supermarket, the only modification required is the top needs a hole drilling in order to take an airlock grommet.

I do all my fermenting in 5ltr supermkt PETs.
that way when I do my final racking/filter there is enough to completely fill a glass DJ for bulk storage
