        degassing

Looks great, Bob. Filtering a wine will also eliminate 99% of the CO2.

          Fizz-X

That whiz stick looks just like a Fizz-X drill mounted stirrer.

Thanks for the tip. I've got some blackberry/fig (15 bottles) with an undesirable taste and lots of fizz. After reading your post I uncorked one of those bottles and shook the c%#& out of it. What an improvement it made in the taste.

is there any benefit to the end product by this?

The end product Will be better if it's properly degassed, but the debate still rages over benefits or not of bulk ageing in carbuoy versus bottle ageing.
The fact that it will Degas itself if stored in a carbuoy with an airlock is certainly a benefit, as wine will not Degas in the bottle, but if the wine is properly degassed then ageing in bottles is fine if you can keep the temperature stable. wines aged in carbuoys are less susceptible to temperature swings because of the bulk. I have read somewhere (can't recollect where) that the wine will age slightly faster in the bottle.

                          hope this helps

                          regards

Oh my...a picture is indeed worth a thousand words. Looking at your first posted picture I figured degass...what is there to degass? Until I kepted scrolling downward. I thought my wine was degassed....I am not so sure any more. Since they are already in bottles I am thinking,my time line will be age, open bottle ,followed by ...shake, shake , shake . Thanks for the photos..
