  • Grapefest 2008

It would be great to do it all again, but lets get well organised ahead of time....
and make it fun fun fun

Lets have your Ideas please boys and girls, for a fun packed grape adventure in 08

Im thinking maybe picking the grapes up late friday evening and processing them Saturday morning might be a better option.

followed by BBQ and drinking this years wines, and so on and so forth

Competition of a small bottle of Monte from 2007, see the differences in how people have cared for them?

Think the crusher could do with a motor on, or more people to operate it!

Been giving this some serious thought (that's difficult for me ). Once we decide which grapes we are getting, I intend to buy a medium range kit of the same grape for the second run. In other words, if we get Merlot, I will get a Beaverdale (or similar) Merlot kit for the second run. What do you think?

Sounds like a great plan! Could even make a sub-par kit into a great one!

That's what I am hoping but "different" would do.

Plans are still In the early stages, but provisional dates if Saturday September 13th

I will pick the grapes up on the afternoon of Friday 12th September, they will be ready for processing on Sat am.

Whole day then devoted to grape processing, afternoon evening devoted to wine drinking and perhaps food.

happy to hear ideas and suggestions..........

this will be 2nd or perhaps 3rd weekend of grape availability, and based on previous years, we should have access to:

                              Whites...

                              Trebbiano
                              Unknown Sicilian variety

                              Reds...

                              Sangiovese
                              Cilieguilio
                              Nero D'avola
                              Grenache

possibly cabernet and Merlot this year, but simply wont know till nearer the time

all grapes are of the finest quality.

we are however at the mercy of the weather and brix levels (sugar) in the grapes (they wont harvest till the grapes are ready)
