  • Sauvignon Blanc - Beaverdale Kit

Another 6 bottle kit, on my quest to find a decent mid-range white.

Started today (SG 1.075) - not using oak.

Instructions are bog-standard Beaverdale - basically, sanitise everything and add water. Easier than driving a tram.

Well, there you go. This is easier, isn't it?

This is a great kit. I made it quite a while ago, and also did not oak it. None of it was aged

Hopefully I will get round to the 30 bottle kit of this soon

Pete, part of your quest to find a half decent white should include the Beaverdale White Burgundy. You tried some at Grapefest and I think you enjoyed it.

I'd forgotten that. Mind you, I'd forgotten a lot about Grapefest. I keep getting confused images of hot tubs and bread rolls

It has now aged for two whole months

Result: quite crisp, citrussy, no strange tastes, perfectly decent.

This is now on my To Do list for a 30 bottle kit.

I don't think I've ever heard of or known of anyone who doesn't rate the Beaverdale kits, and not only do they make good wine, they're also a decent price. What more could you want?

Agreed, I have done most of the Beaverdale kit's and have no complaints about any of them, the Barolo is great for the reds and the Sauvignon Blanc is a great white.
The Barolo needs about 6 to 12 months maturing to be good and the Sauvignon Blanc about 3 months.
Fair do's they won't compare to the higher range kits, but to be honest for the price they are well worth the money.

                          Beaverdale Sauvignon Blanc

Just about to put one on, two of you have not added the Oak, is this a preference thing or for another reason?
I have only seen Trams at blackpool

It's a preferance thing, some people dislike oak in white wines, to me if it comes with the kit then add it.

I agree, if its in the kit then add it, but if you don't like it I can see why you would n't.
I will use it this time, and see if I can con my better half to buy me another kit and not put Oak in.
