Ok boys and girls, looking to set up grapefest for 2009...Provisional date 12th September

so wanted to ask you all, what would you like to see in 2009?

what did you get from/learn from grapefest 07 and 08 what would be useful to you in future years

what would you "like" to learn?

    your thoughts welcome as always

    answers on a postcard please

    Hmmmm,

I LOVED the "Same Grape, Different Yeast" trials at the end of the evening.

I liked that it was informal, but I'd like maybe a little more info's on the grapes that were being pressed.

I also thought the food was fab!!!

I think perhaps a "general fruit pressing" could be managed as well, for those who maybe want to make jellies or fruit wines.

    But that's just me.

Oh, and I might be being a bit thick tonight, but I can't find the Gape / Grapefest section from the top level of the Forum.

After thinking about this one, I'd like some wine tasting tips, like how to tell if you need more acid/tannin/something else in your wine.

I'd also like to be able to say what it is I like/dislike about a wine's overall flavour, so that I can add/subtract from future brewings.

At the moment I can tell you if I like a wine or not, but not what I feel is "wrong" with it. I'd like to find some wine tasting classes locally, but don't think that I would fit in very well if the class were all middle class twats looking down their noses at yobs like myself and my OH!

We could do technical stuff the night before or even in the morning, but the afternoon/evening is devoted (as per previous years) to wine drinking, and silly stuff

I thought '08 was a big improvement on '07. One thing I think we need to do this year is start processing the grapes earlier in the day. This will give us more time for stuff like making adjustments, learning, eating, wine comps and general horse play.
