I seem to remember calculating that approx £10 will get you enough grapes for 1 gallon of wine, but with a 2nd pressing and the addition of a kit wine, you should be able to get a comfy 2 gallons out of your £10 (plus a kit)

Best you get saving - and raid your children's piggy banks!

Apparently Chambourcin finishes too late for the UK. The UK vine collection at Sunnybank nursery (located in Herefordshire, West Midlands) has this to say about Chambourcin:

With regard to the English grapes, I'd very much like to get involved becuase most of these are the varieties I've recently planted (mad angy, solaris, rondo & regent) but my demijohns are all full, and they're due to be re-filled with cider this autumn. And I'm under stricked orders not to encroach further on the rest of the house. I'll just have to wait 'till mine crop....

by the way...I harvest Madeleine Angevine at the end of September in Yorkshire. Rondo (and I think Solaris) is supposed to have a similar harvest date to MA.

Sounds good. Do you have any idea of price yet or is it too early?

                    Bob

Did you get someone to post this to the UKVA list?

                    Your name seems vaguely familiar.

                        Ok
Seyval definate possibility for around week 3 of October....

no idea how many, but I will be in receipt of a third of the crop (expecting between 1.9 and 3 tons...so my share will be 633kg to 1 ton)

                        anyone interested?

its all still up in the air a bit

Brian can get us Trebbiano also

the price depends on the sugar levels, delivery will be a cost factor too, but im thinking around £900 a ton

How much do the boxes of grapes we normally buy weigh? Just to get an idea.
