Well I was basically wanting to find out more information, joining, fees, meetings etc....

I get the impression I'm kind of a 'baby' to the hobby, being under 30, not meant in a disrespectful way but I don't know any of my peers that are into the hobby, kind of leaves one feeling very alone in the world of winemaking

    Thanks

The YFAWB is a sort of governing body for the Wine Circles of Yorkshire. If it is a Wine Circle you are looking for then Mirfield could be the nearest one to you.

Yeah that's why I wanted to have a look at the Federation website to check details for the closest cirlce. Now that the websites back up I think the Spen one would be the closest to me really

Quite possibly, so long as I can find a group, phoned the woman from the Spen one and I guess I wasn't wrong about being young when the answer i got was "well it's not much of a wine circle any more because so many have died!"

Gonna try the Halifax one instead (other local ones appear to meet Thursdays, which I work late on)

I find the same thing in our local winemaking club. I joined a few years back, when I was 45. I was a little worried when one of the more "senior" members told me he was excited to be getting some "young blood" in the group.

And it's a bit unnerving when a couple of times a year they offer up a moment of silence for a member who has passed.

But it's nice in a way. I'm close to 50 now, but they still consider me to be the whippersnapper of the group.
