Robert, funny you mention that. I was actually thinking about something along these lines for a topic: what makes for a balanced wine?

            Did this one happen?

I seem to have accidetentally spent next years holiday money on hardware, I have a gazzillion appes some of which will be juiced for wine number 1, I plan to attend grapefest next year, and I'm about to order a load of stuff from Karl, which is all good fun, but I would be interested to know some of the science behind why wines need to ages to a certain extent, and how they balance (my current thinking is more tanin = longer aging - that's how basic my knowledge is).

I think we settled on third Sunday of the month.....so that would be Nov 21st right? at 7.30pm (UK time)

But we need volunteers to lead these discussions, it's no good it being the same peeps all the time, and we need ideas on what the members would like to have discussed

                suggestions please?

topics for discussion: how about 'why do all these meetings happen on days when Pete is away?'

                    Balancing wine, how, why.
Ageing wine, how, why, for how long, etc.
Alternatives to expensive equipment (like your comparison for degassing tutorial)
                    Benefits of more expensive equipment
which corks should you use and why (seems to be loads on offer)
I'm sure I'll think of plenty more soon enough.
