    A general question

    If I have a 5 gals brew at 1.045 sg and add water to 6 gals what would the sg be?

      1.037 by my calculation. 1.045 is 19oz in a gallon, thus you have 95 ounces total. Spread that out over 6 gallons is 15.8oz per gallon or SG 1.037.

      Bear in mind you will also be diluting the alcohol content. The calculator here http://www.winesathome.co.uk/downloads/calculator.htm will help with these calculations.
