  • Pleasant Surprise

Two weeks ago I was afraid I might not have any Frontenac grapes to harvest this year. Normally I start seeing some color by the end of July, but everything has been late this year due to a nasty spring frost.

I hadn't checked on them since I returned home from the UK, but got a nice surprise when I went out to check them yesterday. Most everything has changed color and the sugar levels are now at a point where I think they might actually be ready to pick by October (hopefully no frost before then).

Time to put up the nets!!

With any luck, yes. California grapes are also 3 weeks behind this year, so fingers crossed all the way around.
