  • Calculating SG from 2 runnings.

    Could somebody help. Trying to do my 1st all grain in a mash tun I have borrowed. Making a IPA and started with 8ltr in with 3kg marris. got 1.068 off the 1st runnings. I was after 1.068 off 10 ltrs so I did a sparge but because I was looking at the amount of grain in there I did another 8lts instead of the 4ltr I would need for pre boil. (problem starts here so today I am boiling off in 2 separate pans to get down to 12 ltr. Then I am going to chill down some of this wort to get my gravity reading).

    My kettle only holds 13 ltr max.

    For the future can somebody advise;
    How can I calculate what the s.g. will be for 10 ltr with the below

    8ltr @ 1.068
    8ltr @ 10.32

    Thanks
    Davyd

    Add those two sg's together and divide by 2. Then divide that result by 16 then multiply by 10. Should give you your sg for ten litres.
