Bit of a newbie question here when it comes to topping up your demijohns what do you use? I have heard so many different things from vodka to water!
I am have Blackberry,Plum and 2 lots of Pineapple wine (different recipes) on the go at the moment and being new I think I've been a bit too hesitant with the racking, the last one I did (plum) had over a pint of headspace and I used a sugar syrup as it did taste a little dry! I haven't used a hydrometer for the first 3 lots as I didn't have one at the time but for the last pineapple one I am giving it a go the starting SG is 1.106 I have no idea if this is good or bad but I'm going to take readings at different stages to try to learn a bit more about it.
