    Hi All,
    I'm back after about 10 years and now I plan to start making wine again soon.

    I've forgotten a lot of it so here's my first questions.

    How do I work out how much volume a certain amount of sugar in weight will add to a given amount of water.

    Secondly, what SG level gives what level of sweetness, I like my wines just off of completely dry, thanks

    1000 is just off sweet in my tastes. As for the sugar bulking I believe it's 1/2 pint per 1lb of sugar added, or 600ml for every 1 kilo, whichever units suit you best.
