Most kits use 3/4 cup of priming sugar.

Yeah it was 1tsp for a lager kit I have here, so this would be the same for the bitter?

Damn, when I read the post title I thought you wanted something translating from Geordie into English.

Luckily for you i just bought a geordie scottish export kit, instructions seem to be a general instruction and i'd imagine the amount of priming sugar is the same for all kits?

Instructions say half a level teaspoon per pint or two and half ounces for the whole 5 gallons if your putting it into a barrel or just want to mix it all in at once.

                Hope that helps

Good point bitter is primed less than lager, so 1/2 tspoon is about right.

Ha ha lost in translation, luckily I was fortunate to have lived in the NE for 4/5 years, so am pretty conversant! lol

And that was just my thinking with the bitter being less primed than lager, so glad I checked, cheers all...

For future reference a great resource for beer brewing is

A friendly UK-based home brew forum where we talk about brewing beer from grain, extract and kits, and wine and cider making.

2 litre bottles, look like lemonade bottles? They'll be fine, that's what my beer goes in. It'll last a day or so once opened, not so nice if you leave half a bottle for a week. Doh...

Or, the square ribbed pet bottles? your in trouble... look out..

Nah, lol its not the still water bottles... Its the sparkling water ones, just like a lemonade bottle...

Oh good someone else does use these ones, how do you go about disturbing sediment on the second glass? or do you decant the lot?
