Special brew Kit?????

My father in law loves special brew. Not sure if its the taste, or the stupidly high alcohol content, but its all he drinks.

Anyway. Is there a way I can make this via a kit. Is it something as simple as making a normal kit, but adding more sugar and using a different yest, or is there more to it?

He would love Woodforde's headcracker, a barley wine around 8%, I have doubled up on the sugar on a coopers lager kit, it was very strong but didn't have that distinctive special brew taste.
