    Hi,

I've got a recipe for Treacle Ale which is basicly:

    1lb Golden Syrup
    8oz Treacle
    1 Lemon
    Gallon of water.

This will be my first ale. The recipe says leave it in primary for 36 hours then bottle so I want to start it tonight so I can bottle it on Saturday.

The problem is that I don't have any ale yeast and wont be able to get to the homebrew shop until saturday. Could I use All Purpose yeast?

    Thanks in advance.

thats very similar to a ginger beer recipe. I'd say yes, a GP yeast would be OK. Or even a bread yeast, but you'd run a risk of a slightly cloudy treacle ale.

Too late, I pitched the AP yeast last night.

I guess if it doesn't work out then I've only lost the price of the ingredients which was a wopping £1.60

I know what you mean but I'm just too impatient (not a good trait in wine and beer making I know)
