  • Over hot sparge

I sparged with massively over temp water, while batch sparging my latest brew - it is now hazy - might this be the reason!

Could well be, you will also likely result in a very dry beer as any residual sugars will have been converted to fermentables.

This is my cascade ale. Very strong which figures. But I've had to buy a tankard said I can't see how hazey it is when I'm drinking it

I've made the cascade twice. Both times I ended up with a chill haze from the fridge (I know I am a heathen) but the beer looked clear at room temp. I put his down to the wheat malt but maybe I was also sparging with too high temperature water. I sparge at 80-85C generally and with a high gravity beer (lots of grain in the tun) I add a couple of litres of boiling water to the mash before sparging to loosen the grain up a bit.

        Is this wrong?

I think the high hop content and the wheat is less forgiving - I am just not sure to what yet.

PS. Mine is permanent haze. Fab beer, just hazey. I might try the next one without the wheat?

I am reading a book about continent beers, that might hold a clue.

Interesting reading, how do they compare with incontinent beers?

much better than intercontinetal beers - they make your head bang

Boy I never had this problem is it a beer age thing or what? Do they make a undergarment to protect you?
