  • Spray Malt

You can get light, medium and dark spraymalt.

What is the difference and what would the different types be used for?

White wines, brown wines and even browner wines?

Seriously, I would think they are all of a muchness except that a dark one would not be so appropriate for a pale ale?

Pale ales, Amber, brown or golden ales, and Dark ales and stouts.

Its addition of different malts to the mix, i.e. brown black and crystal, and they are used to produce darker ales

There is also a hopped version.

I ask because they all seem to have little difference in use and taste and colour.

Thanks chaps. I thought it was me!

There is quite a wide selection available in spray malt, extra light, hopped light, light, medium, dark, extra dark and wheat.
I made a pleasant IPA using the light hopped and medium.

Not fatal. Some might even say irish moss is an unnecessary costly addition. Convenience, like carbonation drops, I wouldn't be surprised, is the name of the game.

If you've boiled we'll enough you don't need either. Perhaps useful in pale beers rather than dark ones where appearance is more important...
