I did some checking and found that more than a few of our beer-making friends use iodine-based no rinse solutions. I procured something called Videne Antiseptic Solution from my local chemist. It's used in a similar way to Idophor and really useful if you cut or graze yourself

Hi guys I have been out and about for a while and did not get back here as promised. I am such a bad boy I deserve the naughty chair. Any way I searched around and although there is numerous links from people saying use this or that historically the use of of sulfites is the way things were done for generations. With a proper rinsing with boiled water. I believe that the newer no rinse methods are valid but I can not unequivocally say that the use of sulphites is wrong.
