I'll get mine on by the weekend.. I've got one last packet of 71b yeast. Are we fixing the recipe for this or just whatever?

I see that Grapefest has made it onto the forum calandar, soon comes round!

According to Bob, early indications are that the following varieties will be available.

            Whites
            Trebbiano (italian)
            Unidentified Scicilian variety

            Reds
            Nero D'avola (Sicilian)
            Merlot (Italian)
            Montepulciano (Italian)
            Sangiovese (Italian)
            Cilieguilio (Italian)
            Grenache (Spanish)

Spoiled for choice or what! I am going to have to limit myself to doing 2, but which 2? 113 days to decide.

Surely the Trebbiano and the Sangiovese, or maybe the Nero.

I can recommend the ciligiulio, smashing stuff, Bob's Merlot and Grenache is also great stuff, although the Montipulciano is now officially award winning

All quite true and may the awards keep rolling in. However, the Nero D'avola will be new to our merry band of West Yorks wine makers (as was the Monte last year) and that makes it an attractive challenge.

I read somewhere that up until recently, Nero D'avola was exclusivley used for blending with crappy French wines, so at least it is a good wine to blend with. I think that I have just talked myself into the Nero if it is available.

Karl hasn't done his yet either (he has 30 odd entries too)

I suspect thats what he's doing right now

Mine and M's are all ready to go

I entered class 8 (by mistake) dry white, excluding fruit or fresh grape....and there simply isn't time to get a parsnip wine ready by then

I made some in 2006...it came in at 28 brix, and I didnt adjust it......it fermentred to dry (17% ABV)

still too hot to drink, but shows great promise one you get past the alc burn...live and learn (I have 6 gallons of it)
