Well, it looks like Bob and Duffbeer have persuaded me that I should attend.

I've never made wine from grapes - it looks like I have lots of reading to do.

I guess I need to let Bob know what I actually want, but I'm in your hands - I need to make something foolproof (and if you've read any of my other posts you'll know why).

Don't worry about it too much, I managed ok last year, the wine pretty much makes it's self.

OK, seriously, do I have to decide beforehand and, if so, what do you suggest?

You have to decide before I pick the grapes up yes.......I am not (contrary to popular belief) making a penny on this, you will pay what the grapes cost plus a transportation fee (£1 per box) to cover the hire of the van and the diesel.

so I will pick up exactly what people have ordered.

If you are unsure, go for the Tempranillo, or the merlot if they have it,.....watch this space sometime in August I will post what will definitely be available, but I will need a 2nd choice for everyone, just in case when i get there the varietal you chose is sold out.

Yep that's straight up, Bob makes zilch from grapefest we do it for the fun and festive part of wine making, Rich and Richard _S will verify this, it's a fun but busy day crushing grapes (a little food this year guy's) and a few drinks after. No profit to be made, just hobbyists enjoying the real grape thing.

Sounds great to me - I don't mind getting my hands dirty, and I get some tuition for free too!

I hope I'll be travelling up from home, in which case my wife will probably knock up some of her garlic and parmesan chicken.

Looks like I'll need to bring some DJs then.
