  • Well, judging by the paucity of posts I'm guessing that you're all now "sleeping it off" (apart from those who drove home).

    Be great to see a few pictures of the days events.

    The only consolation about having to do "more important stuff" (if there is such a thing) is that I got the green light to chuck a couple of hundred at a new monitor - it should arrive in a couple of days

          • Well, I got mine the 173 miles home without spilling a drop.

            Time for a quick cup of tea, then get the yeast starters going.

            Thank you to Bob, Karl & Mrs. Karl for the organisation, food and so on. Thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome, and for all the advice.

            • Right, first question.

              I'm planning to draw off 5l juice from the Sangiovese (partly because I want to try a rosé, and partly because the fermenter is full to the brim). My test kit tells me the TA is 3.3 sulphuric (5 tartaric?).

              I'm guessing that a rosé should be a bit more acidic. What does the panel think I should be aiming for (and, Karl, what taste am I looking for?).

              • I aim for my Rosé to be at about 7 (or about 5 ish indicated on the ritchies test kit, if I remember the numbers correctly.. ), BUT wait for someone else to confirm before adding stuff in!

                • Yup, 7 is a great number for Rose' wines, 8 if you plan to sweeten it later (but doubtful, as Allison doesn't like sweeter wines, eh?).

                    what an absolutely fun packed event it was, we have tons of photos, I plan on burning them to a CD/DVD and making it available to everyone

                              I agree mate, today was good but grape fest was a ball, last year was fun,but hard work, this year was just a barrel of laughs, good food, good company and some great wines to boot, roll on Grapefest 2009
