    Cab Sav Grapes

    Hi All,
Any one up for some Cab Sav Grapes?
My mates just come back from France Today & has got about 30 Tonnes!!!
Only joking I have just heard on the Radio that some one has just harvested a full vineyard of Cab Sav grapes during the night. (full moon)
Bob Can you see if any of your contacts have any cheap Cab Sav grapes for sale or maybe we can have a Grapefest 2 in France this weekend & pick some of our own?

Just finished pressing the grapes with RIch's help (I'm not saying Rich has finished pressing my grapes because this is not a Carry On film). and got some good results.

5 boxes returned about 27L with about 1-2L of sludge. SG is 1.000.

        A Pretty nifty yield!

          Pressing night pics from Koomber's.

5 boxes of Merlot, nigh on 25 litres of juice. plus another couple from the dregs of the bucket in a seperate DJ. Only about 5litres ish of dry skins remained after pressing (shown in white bucket)

Ha ha! He does a wonderful line in "nutter" photographs

First it was the "modelling" of the new hat (with stern looking mad axe man in a "Hannibal Lecter" sort of way), now it's the "Lunatic mad scientist" with maniacal grin.......

              Brilliant, totally priceless........

              regards

p.s. Oh and small clarification ???? SG 1.000 ????? of the grape juice ..... and how much do the grapes cost per box ?

Specific gravity of 1.000 at time of pressing, the Merlot started around 1.090.

And, Koomber wasn't 'posing' for any photos, that's his normal look

I did ask if Rich tried to find the most stabby photo of me.

I think it was about £8 odd a box.

                      • Merlot pressed by hand. 6 boxes yielded 7 1/2 gallons. My knees hurt and my hands are red!

                        5 gallon free run & 2 1/2 pressed.

                              • Mine pressed this afternoon with some help.

Lots of juice, more from the Monte though.

Acid levels checked by Koomber and his wonderful laboratory in his bag.

Some wine drunk, food eaten, Buckets cleaned and the garage left looking a mess..

Press washed off, and some 10% sulphite took the red staining out the wood.
