  • Grapefest Bring-a-Bottle

I have OK'd this idea with Bob, so hopefully it is OK to post this suggestion.

Can everyone attending this year bring a bottle of something you have made from Grapefest grapes in a previous year?

This is for the benefit of Grapefest Virgins, who might be curious to know what they might be making

It would be good if we could bring examples of wine made directly from the grapes, and maybe some 2nd runs, rosés, ports, WN1 variants and so on.

If we make a list of what we can bring here, we can organise it amongst ourselves, avoid too many duplications and also avoid loading Bob up with more work.

To get the ball rolling, I could bring any of:

    2010 Trebbiano
    2009 Merlot
    2009 Ciliegiolo
    2010 Montepulciano

2009 or 2010 Black Cherry Port
    2010 WN1 rosé (I forget which grape)
    2009 or 2010 Fruit Merlot

I'm down to my last couple of bottles of 2008 Sangiovese, so I'm guarding those carefully. The 08 Grenache is definitely an Acquired Taste, so that's staying at home too

I think it is going to be REALLY interesting to see how everyone's wine's compare to each others.

Originally I thought it would be a good idea to avoid duplications. However, as Koomber points out, it's going to be interesting to compare each other's wines.

Do you all reckon we all ought to bring whatever GF wines we can then?

Hmmm. Only attended for the first time last year and all are still in bulk. I may get round to botting a second run on the skins port though.

I reckon my wine #1 with elderflower is the only thing I have remotely worth bringing.
