I bungee all my buckets together, and then bungee all that to a door handle, or a seat. There is no spillage.
Now that does sound like a good idea, there are some kind of anchor points on the boot floor that are just the job for bungee cord attachment. I have an old duvet in the boot which has been used to safely transport all the glass I have been buying lately. It would make a great cover to help keep lids firmly in place with a few bungee cords helping out.
These are IMO the best all rounder - fermenter and storage beer and wine, easy to clean.
See if Karl (duff beer) can bring some through for you and save on the post?
The trouble is yield varies and last year was a high - Sorry Pete I forgot this is must not wine. (Skins account for 15% vol) I will revise my figure to 3 poss 4 per case.
Just a thought: be careful these blue drums don't have a taint of the fruit concentrate that was in them previously?
Last year Karl had some big 60l fermenters, which were not much bigger diameter than a Youngs 33l fermenter, but taller. I fitted two on the back seat of my Clio, along with a 33l fermenter.
The only problem with the 60l jobs is that once you get 5 or 6 boxes-worth of grapes in them, it takes two people to lift them . I had to use a sack truck to move them from the car to the garage when I got home.
From memory, I also had two x 30 - 33l fermenters in the boot too. Be careful though - weight soon becomes an issue. You don't want lots of fermenters sitting over or behind the rear axle.

Thanks for all the advice re: the transport container issue. I have examples of the youngs 33 litre buckets and wide neck fermenters so I can trial fit those in the Passat at the weekend. I would like to carry the load safely in the boot if possible although I do have the fold down rear seat option if required. I just dont like travelling any distance with the rear seats down if I can help it.
