    is it possible to make a good mead wine from tinned fruits?
    Abingdon-on-thames..learning by my mistakes !!

    that would be a melomel then......


    I cant see any reason why not, take the basic tinned wine recipe and replasce the sugar with honey to S.G. 1.080

      Or the other way might be getting a juice drink of your choice (usual caveats of no preservatives etc) and then upping the gravity (with honey)to whatever you want, though the usual 1080/1090 would be fine I'd think and then carry on in the usual way.

      The good thing about making the melomels, cysers, pyments etc is that it isn't necessary to worry too much about the "quality" of the honey i.e. cheapo supermarket stuff should do as the honey isn't going to be the main flavour.......


      Didn't mean to butt in Bob, just my 2 pence worth as an alternative...
