Good point there Jan as to the clarity, if it is quite cloudy a heavy yeast content could cause the trots with some people. Some red wines have the same effect on Bob, ghastly to share a B&B with, hence why we book seperate hotels now.

A complete newbie from NW US. I have loads of raspberries in the freezer, so the natural progression....wine! I am very nervous about this project so am reading, and re-reading instructions. I hope to gather materials, and supplies for winemaking before this years batch of berries grow and ripen... This site has been helpful, and encouraging. Thanks!
Welcome to the forum Likus, you'll find us all friendly and helpful, so ask away on stuff you're not sure of, and I'm sure your first wine making experience will be a good one.
Have you thought about doing a 1 gallon wine kit as your first try? It's pretty much guaranteed to work out well, and will give you the confidence you need to try a fruit recipe, also you'll be able to see first hand how a ferment progresses without too much of the stress of wondering if you've done it right or not!.
I'm not sure what kits you cna get out there, but I'd recomend a Beaverdale kit, but if you can't get them, then I'm sure one of our other American members will be able to suggest something for you.
Anyway, welcome, and good luck!

Thanks for the replies. The perry is lovely and clear and looks so appatising. I did try it a second time and it had the same affect. I did make cider with the same equipment/press etc so can discount that. It doesnt cause any stomach pain or any of that but the laxative effect is unbeleavable.! but clears as rapidly as it appears... ..think I'll just tip it down the drain.
