        • Hi Trish, welcome.

I'm just about to bottle a gallon of raspberry wine, and it tastes incredible already, I'd certainly recomend making some.

          • Welcome aboard Trish

Be careful with recipes as some of the olde worlde ones carry WAAAAAAAAAY too much sugar in them.

Do you have a hydrometer yet?

do you have access to a freezer? this will help you process your fruit more easily, and also storgae so you can pick when perfectly ripe and store till use.
The wine No1 listed in the new winemakers section makes a great base for the addition of fruit. (it also makes a good wine on its own )
            regards\Bob

            • Thanks for the welcome everyone

Yes, I have a hydrometer ... not exactly sure how it works yet, but sure I'll find out once I get started.
I have a large chest freezer, so I've plenty of room for the fruit. Think I still have some blackcurrants in there, leftover from last season

Just wish my Demijohns would arrive now so I can get started .

Your wine sounds great, lushness! Looking forward to trying out some of the recipes I've seen.

I am the Sniper, I am an ex Para who has been making beer for 34 years and wine for 32 years.
Done the competition scene, won a load of competitions and shows, but got fed up with the back stabbing. Some people take this hobby way too seriously. Anyway I have just got the gear out the loft and started up again purely for fun no competitions

                    • Hello Sniper, you're very welcome to the forum.

Some of us do enter competitions but you'll find the majority don't, so you should feel quite at home here.

(And there's definitely NO backstabbing )

                          Unless you mention PARSNIPS...

But welcome Sniper, nobody on here seems to take anything too seriously, which makes it a nice place to be.

Insecure people try to make you feel smaller.
