Have kits really improved in 6/7 years then Bob? As I have only been into making wine the last 2 years, I have nothing to compare against beyond that time....
I know it's off topic slightly (but the original question has been answered ) but interested in what exactly has changed? Better instructions, ingredients, packaging etc?

Interesting
You've mentioned before about the quality of yeast being a major factor. It's something I hadn't considered until joining the forum. "Yeast is yeast" I thought
This year is going to be an interesting year of kit experimentation and mod's I think

I Dabbled too back in the mid 80's,,as a teenager. I used to buy kits from a wine making stall at the local market,,also the local indepentent chemist use to sell wine making stuff too.. Trying to think of the kit making company,, was it Unican?? Pretty similar to the youngs kits of today...
Still never made much,,then gave up.

The yeast!!! I can remember my dad making elderberry wine and putting yeast on toast and floating it on top of the must!! It does look like we come a long way since then..lol..

I started winemaking seriously in 2004. Even the cheapo kits now are far superior
Everything about them has changed, but the real move forward is in yeast quality

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.
I always try and support my local home brew store/specialist. The advice you get from a speciliast shop will always be far better than a general retailer. Personally I have no issue paying slightly more to get that advice and level of service.
Go and ask a spotty teenager in Wilkinsons if Kit A is better than Kit B and you might be lucky to get grunted at....
I used to buy a few bits from Wilkinsons etc as they were a pound or two cheaper, but as I say I would rather support the "specialist" and get that level of advice\experience I think you need in this hobby (in my opinion!)
A few people on here have seen Tesco offer some bits and bobs too, but that usually sparks anger due to the supermarket giants attempts to kill off all other retailers.....

A quick google showed up a HBS in Aldershot, Fareham and Farnborough if they're any good to you.
Also Duffbeer on here runs a HBS but does delivery nationwide, I have used him before, price was good, delivery and communication were excellent.
To answer the actual question, I am not aware of any, but I try to support specialists wherever possible, that way I feel I am helping them to remain specialist.
