No problem with that at all Paul, the wine is being judged against itself so to speak, (we hope to use the UCDavis system for all three classes)

    But......

if we need to draft a judge in who is unfamiliar with the system we may need to revert to standard judging in the dry white and dry red, however, I am looking to show some judges the ucdavis system this weekend, and maybe we will get some volunteers, as it looks like there may be too many entries to judge on my own

The open class will definately be UCDavis

Yes, we've sent out over 100 bottles yesterday and today...

Mr. Sharp hasn't told me, though, how many he's planning to enter.

No, it was expressed that it might be uncomfortable for all. I wouldn't want to do that at all.

Way to go, GS! I'm so excited to have you taking pat of this! It's going to be a great show!

If you know of anyone else who is a winemaker (and who wants their wines tasted and commented on - including tips on how to improve, if possible), please encourage them to join the fun!

I have 6 bottles filled and almost ready to post.

Before I fill out the labels, though, I need Bob/Martina to clarify something for me. Looking in the Competitons section of this Forum, 'dry' is no detectable sweetness. I would describe most of my entries as off-dry (e.g 0.994 - 0.999 range). Should I therefore tick the 'medium' box but give you a bit more info on the Entrant's Form?

You can tell I don't do competitions, can't you?

Yes, Pete, that would be perfect. Of if you are unsure, just let us know on the entry form and we can tick the appropriate box....

Remember to letter your bottles and remember which ones they are for the updates (oh, you're not going to twitter...) and the results page.... We will be strictly listing the results online through entrant number and letter.

Because of the judging system being used, your wine cannot be thrown out for being out of class. The judge would simply point out that the wine wasn't completely dry, and mark it, and judge it as a medium wine.
