  • Just bottled what I called 'Christmas Rhubarb' 'cos I put a lot Christmas cake spices in the must, so I'm having 'cook's perks'

Can't say the spices made much difference to the taste or bouquet (will add tons more next time) but it's a beautiful copper colour and quite yummy.
    Let's party

            • Sorry sir, won't happen again sir

Well, as it's persisting down with rain, and it really feels like autumn here, I went for a shop-bought red (which was also the first bottle I saw in the kitchen).

Priorat Tenral Crianza 2004 - a spanish thingy made from Shiraz, Grenache and Mazuelo.

              VERY nice.

              • Progress report: this is REALLY nice.

Not a good idea though - need to get a piece of software written for tomorrow, and it's definitely slowing me down

Is it commonplace to blend Shiraz and Grenache?

(thinks: hopefully Grenache at Grapefest, Beaverdale Shiraz kit in the garage .... )

Guess I'd better go find a bottle of something.

Absolutely. It's like the Spanish equivalent of a Rhone wine. The Mazuelo (aka Carignan) is the odd grape in that blend. You would normally only add that to a wine that needed more color. It doesn't add much to the flavor.
