Wow... I would have never have thought of putting star annise in a wine...
I take it, its quite a subtle taste ??

        • I've had a couple of pints of ice cold lager and it was 'spot on'.

The star annise idea is a brilliant. I'm interested in how it tastes too, also what flavour wine was the #1?

Not yours Pete. It was Brian's first go. Very drinkable (I took my decanter round and filled it from his 'bag in a box')

Tonight is a whisky night.. no work till Thursdays nightshift, so a reasonable taste from all the bottles whilst watching 'The Who' on Sky arts

No, I wasn't angling at that

The only person I know has one of mine is Bob - last time I was there it was still in his fridge

Last night I had a Wine No.1 with Elderflower. Perfectly decent.

                    • tropical juice wine n01 derivative angain was pretty yuk at a month but 6 months later yum. it does amaze me the difference in letting it mature. now have over 24 dj a better bottle and a water bottle all maturing in shed. wonder how much winter weather will affect them. cold stabilisation and all that. may bring one chigli inside and compare next year

You're not wrong. I made 5 gals of Modified Fruity Karl (tweaked Duffbeer recipe). I didn't like it - very melon-y, not acidic enough. Mrs G loved it and devoured most of it. I forgot one DJ for 6 months - when we tried that one the melon flavour had settled and it seemed to have developed a bit of sharpness. It was like drinking an alcoholic sorbet

Problem is, now we only have 5 bottles left

                        Tonight we have had:

A Tesco Frascati - inferior to a decent Wine No.1, but OK I suppose

A half bottle of Wine No.4 2nd run. Really pleased, will be in the VWC Feb comp.
