  • I was in Tesco today....

And they had homebrew stuff. Barrels, buckets, demijohns and kits. Quite a bit of stuff. Few basic beer kits and some more even more basic wine kits.

On the other hand, they had no lids for the buckets, no bungs and no airlocks.

I mentioned it at customer support, but I doubt anything will happen

PS: Was Tesco Dainstone in Aberdeen
Dutch Gunderson: Who are you and how did you get in here?
    Frank Drebin: I'm a locksmith. And, I'm a locksmith.

I would never buy home brew stuff from people who dont carry everything......dont buy from people whao are skimming a profit without the customer backup.....

your local homebrew store will close if you do,...then you will be left with Tesco who care nothing for customer service....merely profit....wait till you want a grommit for your 30 litre bucket.........

Personnally I like to support my local HBS.... or failing that, KARL - who is a local HBS for me online
Both, if you ask for whatever, do there utmost to support/provide whatever you are looking for
Not to mention the expertise/advice that a HBS provides !!

I'm not fortunate enough to have LHBS in Aberdeen. Google used to say there was one in Aberdeen, but I can see where it is meant to be from my flat. Closed some time ago.

About the only thing I would buy from them that they had was airlocks. The main point I was trying to get at was that if Tesco are trying to get in on the Homebrew market, they are not doing a good job at all. Kits and demijohns but no bungs or airlocks? That is up there with chocolate teapots.

If anyone did try and start because they got a kit in Tesco and if Tesco did have the right stuff to brew, I think a LHBS would see more customers as it would be mroe likely to get new starts who had tried the tesco stuff but wanted a good go at it.
