I find thes pictures to be very informitive and distubing. My reasons for getting away from glass are simply saftey related.I will be keeping notes as I have just started this journey. I also trust my supplier to steer me in a correct direction as their product suffers quality loss if not handled properly. I have seen delamination in other types of plasic and get rid of them right away. You can not take the risk of not being able to properly sanitze the vessel because of scratching ETC.

I can't argue with you RJB. I was peeved to be told that quite a common practice (keeping properly diluted steriliser) was against something on their website. I would have felt it worth including on the label. As you are in Canada I can only assume they are pretty cheap. Last time I saw BB over here they were about C$30 and you definitely expect them to last more than 18 months at that price.
Now bottling 20DJs of 2013 red and making room to rack 5 carboys of 2014 red to the DJs where they can wait for another winter.
Thank goodness for eBay! (local cache of DJs)

I have had a couple of better bottles in constant use for the last 2 years. NOt seen anything like the above with mine, though they do stain with red wines. Rather than milton I rinse out my bottles after use with hot soapy water then spray them with metabisulphite and cling film the tops. No issues or infections to date touch wood.

When you wash yours out do they ever get really hot water (60C+) in them? Maybe that could cause issues. I have been looking for a couple more bottles but haen't been able to find this specific make anywhere locally. I will order a couple of karls I think.

Does anyone know if I need to order the sillicon bungs (with airlock holes) or do they come with them?
