Thought I would post a few photos of the Orange Muscat dessert wine I bottled today.
I bought the California grapes frozen last year from a distributor in Connecticut, US. When they arrived, I was sorely disappointed because the frozen juice smelled for all the world like... dirt.
After they started fermenting, the wine quickly took on a very nice marmalade/apricot aroma. I ended up fortifying with Jamaican Rum to 16% alcohol and back sweetening with brown sugar. It also got a few oak cubes while it aged.
Turned out to be a very nice wine. I don't know if it's the best wine I made last year, but it is certainly one of the prettiest.
