  • sangiovese?

Looking through the grape variety database I think the grapes sold to David and I as sangiovese are not!

    http://www.winepros.org/wine101/grap...sangiovese.htm

I think they are more likely to be Primitivo/Zinfandel

    http://www.winepros.org/wine101/grap.../zinfandel.htm

    what do you think David?

    still tastes good though

      ...sorry......

I wish I could help with that Bob 'ol buddy. The only grapes I know about are the red seedless ones I am snacking on right now and muscadines and scuppernongs.

If it tastes good, quit your whinin'!

        Bob,

Zin grapes are larger than Sangiovese, and their skins are likewise thinner. Best bet would be to buy a bottle of each and compare with yours!

I'm thinking you got the Sangio. The picture of the grapes in the crusher looks like the bunches are looser and fairly thick skined. Zins have tighter bunches.

I'm with Jay on this one. There isn't anything in the picture that makes me not think they are NOT Sangiovese like the ones in my backyard. If you were to pick threw all my bunches at harvest there is quite a bit of difference some tighter some trowing both shoulders and a extra cluster....
