  • Safety Locks

I have been given dozens of these things, there plastic look like they fit into the top of the demijohn, with a little rubber disc in the center, under that are two little holes. I assume these are used to replace airlocks when bulk ageing?
Has anyone seen or used them? do they work? and with them being secondhand are there any faults i should look for before using them?

They're brilliant, Axl. Good for bulk aging as they won't taint the wine and if you haven't degassed you won't have messy explosions. I should think if you give them a good wash, sterilise them and make sure there are no other holes and splits in them they should be fine. Who is you fairy godfather? Please point them my way next time
