Bit f duplicate here, but Aldi have 20L water bags (imagine a wine box bag but bigger for £4 at the moment.

They also have digital thermometers for £5. Not a normal one but a meat thermometer. It's basically a fork that measures the temperature. I'm sure with a little persuasion could be made to have both points closer together or rip one of completely. I looks like if you could do this it would fit into a 1" apeture easily. Plus it is about a foot long so will be easy for thos larger volumes.

Cellar Rat has some experience with the bags and points out that similar types don't collapse as well as wine bladders and can let air in so you might want to check first if you pick one up!

Just been to Aldi#s they have some new honey 'Mexican Montane Blossom Honey' for only £2.79. Not the cheapest honey, but could be interesting for some of the mead makers on the forum.
