They make the reusable black screwcaps with poly removable and reusable liners and are available at most online winemaking supply sites.

£17.50 with carry handle at Brewpacks store in Huddersfield or £17.50 without handle at Brewking in Bradford, as for the screw top demi's I have some and find a standard bung fits.

They do look good. Been thinking of buying a glass 5 gallon jar, but might get 1 or 2 of these instead.

Just been to the homebrew shop at Balby. Got a 5 gallon bucket and a 5 gallon fermenting barrel (one of those with the screw top). I got the barrel to use as a secondary and bought a tap for it as well. Is it worth fitting the tap, does it make life any easyer?

They look good to me, Snowdog. I've been wanting some 5gal DJs for a while, but was frightened of the weight of glass ones.

I've been using Tesco's 5ltr water bottles for fermenting and storing for a while now and have never had any problems with them so should think these would be the same.

Thats great news to me as i bought 3 grommits at the same time with the idea of buying some tesco/asda water and using the bottles for second fermentation.
Thought they good value then he gave me bungs as well so for me great value

Agree but my plan is to build a stock fast then work on getting it right so for quick brew kits and tc should be ok but any long term stuff you got to go with glass.
My biggist problem is i now have 84 bottles of stuff on the go but only 20 bottles and im still drinkin my bitter so aint emptying any .

Something I hadn't really given much thought to, so had a quick total up, I've got 11 demijons on the go, 1 more primary and just put my first 5 gallon kit in primary,

EEK, thats 102 bottles required... And maybe a bigger wine rack.

Asking your local pub/restaurant to put aside empties for you is a good idea. They only chuck 'em. My sister works in a pub so she gets me bottles every now and then.
