I started to make a batch of wine no.1 and saw we had a tin of pears. So in they went with about a pound of sugar as well as the apple and grape juice giving a starting gravity of about 1.065-1.07.
After a few days I picked some elderflowers, 2-3 heads and added them into a second demijohn which I racked the juice off the pear pulp at about 1.005-1.010.
Its about finished and ready for a final rack which I did last night. i had a sip and its really good. Its light, not alcoholy hot, hint of pear and elderflower, without either being overpowering, just enough to recognise what the flavour is.
I really like it and cant wait to get on with drinking the stuff once its finally completed, just a shame i only made one gallon!
