I really wouldn't go with the tape and pinprick method if I were you.
How does the gas escape then if it is a piece of rubber?

Imagine a small tube of rubber about half an inch long, and about as wide as a 1p piece. It has two flanges and a hole through it to take the airlock. You push this into the hole you've made in the cap/lid. The flanges a) stop it going all the way through and b) make it airtight.

Hope this helps for now - I am still trying to get a picture for you.

      Yay at last!

I have seen them cheaper though

I found a link to some at Maplins but not sure if any of these are suitable:

Blimey, I'm glad I didn't go to Maplin to buy some of those then!

So I think I need a flat wood drill bit for that then is that right?

This one looks a bit like those black ones from Maplins though doesn't it?

Don't think so. It'll be the same shape as the one I linked to, just black.

I was getting confused (not difficult) thinking the orange/red one was a bit wider than it is on top.

                    Doh!

Well, these are the correct things and a darn sight cheaper than the Maplin's ones.

I have just sent them an email regarding the postage charges.

They say they charge £2 for items that weigh less than 1kg which is a hell of a lot if you only want to order a handful of grommets!

I agree, postal charges are extortionate

Not sure where in Staffodshire you are, but I looked on Yell.com and came up with these HBS's

                            Hope it helps.

We live near Trentham (www.trenthamleisure.co.uk) so the nearest is about 12 miles away but there would be nothing esle I would need to go for so it would cost me more in petrol and parking!
