    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how they transfer the wine into the trial jar i.e do you always syphon it in or can you get away with taking the bung out & carefully pouring it in to the trial jar.

    Well, it's probably better to use a wine thief or a turkey baster or some such, but if you've got a steady hand pouring works too. I always did it that way tilll I got a cheapo baster.

    PS If you use a baster make sure you squeeze the bubble before you put it in the wine

      Yep, I use a turkey baster too.

      I got one last week from Wilkinsons for 50p.

        Use the turkey baster to squirt it into the hydrometer jar and suck it back up and squirt it back into the jar a few times to be sure and get a well-degassed sample.
