  • Best Finings?

Can anyone suggest the most effective finings? I've seen there are a few to choose from, like the ones you put two different solutions in and others where you just bung in a powder. Can some of the more experianced of you out there tell me what you have found works best. Thanks

Would you always use finings or is it best just to leave the wines to clear on there own or do some of the wines not clear without the finings

Well the theory is that all wines will clear on their own given time...........

but if mine aren't dropping clear (top down) three or four days after stabilising, I add fining's. And Kwik Klear is great stuff.

            regards

I try never to use finings. If a wine is misbehaving I put it in the dark somewhere and let the Alzheimers kick in. I've only ever re-discovered one that didn't clear (after months and months of being forgotten) and a quick blast through the Harris filter solved the problem. It was a very good wine in the end.
