Is any one else having trouble buying Amylase

The two shops I buy my kit from have stopped selling it

I asked about it and was told we no longer stock it

notice Zeb I used the term "hardly ever" and not never

In beers its fine, also in foodstuff, but not for vinting in my book

ahh...but notice I didn't highlight the term "hardly ever" but the bit with "dont" in it...

I've never made Barley Wine (or looked at a recipe)

Is it classed as a beer or a wine ?

I'm confused now (tho thats not unusual)

Why is it called wine if its classed as a beer ?

brew genie and hop and grape are still selling it

they do mail order too, however the postage on one tub of amylase is likely high, but if you want other stuff, maybe worth an order

I suspect it is something they dont sell a lot of, so maybe its a local decision, did they give you a reason why?

Could be called Barley Wine due to the alc content being nearer to that of wine rather than beer, or the guy that thought up the name could have had too much Barley Beer.

Yes its likely because of the closeness in alc content to wine that it is named so (could be wrong tho)
