    Exactly!
I have long noticed my homebrew beers never (well, rarely) give me a hangover, and no dodgy guts either. It must be a purity thing.

Purity of mind? or purity of beer? I can only speak for myself of course, but I can assure you that my mind isn't pure...

I remember it well, but hadn't realised it was as long ago as 1985

By design, most of my wines have slightly less alcohol than store-bought, only because I generally don't like them real boozey. My wife and I did have a bottle of the '06 Syrah last night, which is an exception at almost 16% alcohol. It's black as pitch (and almost as thick), but well balanced and darn tasty. Almost like a dry, oaked port.
